Description

AAAED provides an annual refresher training for federal EEO Counselors and Investigators who are required to have 8 hours of training annually by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). This virtual course is presented by EEO experts in the field of investigations and counseling. Individuals who take this course receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.


This course will interactively discuss and cover the following:

  • Case Studies and Analysis

☑️ Core roles, responsibilities, and challenges of EEO Counselors and Investigators

  • Conducting Investigations

  • Confidentiality 

  • Anti-Retaliation Laws

  • Credibility Assessment 

  • Support Resources for both the complainant and respondent. 

  • Challenges Facing EEO Counselors/Investigators in a hybrid workplace

Meet Our Presenters:


Bob Gregg, Attorney, Boardman and Clark, LLP

Bob Gregg, an attorney with Boardman Clark LLP in Madison, Wisconsin, has been involved in employment relations and civil rights work for more than 30 years. He litigates and serves as an expert witness in employment cases. His main emphasis is helping employers achieve enhanced productivity, creating positive work environments, and resolving employment problems before they generate lawsuits. Bob’s career has included canoe guide, carpenter, laborer, Army Sergeant, social worker, educator, business owner, Equal Employment Opportunity officer, and employment relations attorney. He has the background to address a wide range of employment issues in a straightforward, easy-to-understand style. Bob has conducted over 3,000 seminars throughout the United States and authored numerous articles on practical employment issues. Bob is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the National Speakers Association, the American Association for Access, Equity & Diversity, and served on the Board of Directors of the Department of Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute Foundation. 

Anita J. Jenious, J.D., Director, EEO Compliance Virginia Tech

Anita Jenious is an equity and inclusion leader, non-practicing lawyer, and Affirmative Action/Equal  Employment Opportunity Compliance Director at Virginia Tech who brings 30 years of experience in  aa/eeo, equity, Title IX, and accessibility in higher education. She has held similar roles at Vanderbilt  University, Tennessee State University, and the University of Pennsylvania. 


She earned her Bachelor’s degree with a double major in political science and sociology from Vanderbilt  University and a law degree from the University of Tennessee. She has presented at national  conferences, and served on the boards of numerous local, regional, and national organizations.

Beth Valentine, Ph.D, Equity Compliance & Education Manager, University of North Dakota

Dr. Beth Valentine (she/her) is the Equity Compliance & Education Manager at the University of North Dakota (UND). She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Rutgers University, a Master of Studies in Law from Yale Law School, and a CAAP certification from AAAED. Prior to her position as Director, she was an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at UND and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Roger Mudd Center for Ethics, where her research focused on the intersection of ethics and law. She has published in leading legal philosophy journals, has a forthcoming chapter on private law theory with UCL Press, and recently presented at the Higher Learning Commission’s Annual Conference on diversity and equity in the higher education workforce.
